Why?

Optimist: Every dark cloud has a silver lining.
Pessimist: But lightening kills hundreds of people each year who are trying to find it.

Why do flowers bloom so beautifully?
Only to wilt after a few days.
Why does the sun rise and give light?
Only to set again after a while.

Why do stars twinkle so bright?
Only to a fade away with the rising sun.
Why does the rainbow appear with beautiful colors?
Only to vanish a little later for no apparent reason.

Why do people have to be so pessimistic?
Why do they make life miserable?
They think everybody is against them,
When only they are their true enemies.

Why can’t more people be optimistic?
Don’t they know setbacks are temporary?
Optimism brings a purpose for life; it brings happiness.
An optimist enjoys life, even amidst setbacks.

Pessimism is a disease of the mind,
One has to change the mindset to stop being one.
But the rewards are high and great,
So we will change ourselves and try once again.

Why do flowers bloom so beautifully?
To give us joy and make us happy.
Why does the sun rise and set?
To teach that setbacks are temporary and we can rise again.

Why do stars twinkle so bright?
To make the sky brighter when there is no moon.
Why does the rainbow appear with beautiful colors?
To show us the beauty of simple things.

Stop being a pessimist; life is too short to waste.
Stop being depressed; you and others will be happy.
Be optimistic; setbacks and failures are temporary.
Be optimistic; the entire universe will conspire to assist you.

Why do flowers bloom so beautifully?
To remind me of the wonderful Creator
To remind me of His eternal love for me
To remind me of the blessings He has given me.
Among them, you are there always, Alex !

Intersting poem. Even though it defies all the rules of poetry, it is nice as the message is good.

Am a regular visitor. Commenting the first time. You seem to try out new things this year–cartoons, poems, etc. What next? Can we expect a story–one like the ‘Kiss’ you wrote sometime back. Keep going. Wish you all the best and have a great year.

Paresh: You have the wisdom buddy.

    Suja: Thanks suja.

Rahul: Thanks Rahul. But I don’t have the slightest idea about the rules of poetry 🙂

Vipin: Thanks. But I don’t know. This one was a fluke.

Rajesh: Welcome. Yes, trying out new things, but I don’t know whether it is a good idea. Story? I don’t know…

This beautiful piece of poetry touched my heart. It could well have been written for me! It is so easy to drown in the setbacks of life and give up all hope.
It takes a lovely reminder like this to watch out for that silver lining around every dark cloud. Thank you.

As for the Rules of Poetry; I would like to quote Bruce Deitrick Price on his take on the subject, “There are no rules. Wrangling about rules can take you down dead-end roads. The history of the arts is littered with the corpses of creative projects that started off with some theoretical soul declaring, “A painting should be X…A novel must be C.” Says who??? Sometimes these declarations and manifestos — these rules — serve to keep you focused. Probably more often they seal you off from life and the endless possibilities of life.

I believe poetry flows from the heart. This POEM proves it beyond a shadow of doubt.
