When Nature Turns Nasty

When nature is happy,
We breathe fresh air and drink clean water.
We gather fruits and vegetables,
Without the need for poison or excess—
Nature provides us with everything.

When we exploit her,
When we cut down trees without restraint,
When we mine the earth for greed,
When we blast rocks and quarry,
Nature turns against us.

She sends incessant rains and cloudbursts,
She shakes the land with tremors and eruptions,
She unleashes tsunamis and floods,
And mountains crumble in her rage.

Thousands die, and cities fall;
Destruction follows, devastation reigns.
We stand helpless, watching
All we built reduced to dust.

Nature is loving if we love her.
Nature provides if we are not greedy.
Nature stays pure if we do not contaminate.
Nature is more powerful than any human.

Do not provoke her wrath,
Do not make her angry,
Do not make her cruel—
And we can live in peace.
