Tanka – Volume I

1.
Am in a wheelchair,
Work with computers and code,
Write poetry too.
Life is hard in the wheelchair,
Surviving life with honor.

2.
Mom has Dementia,
She does not remember us,
We haven’t forgotten.
Fading memory takes her,
Away from us to dreamland.

3.
Poetry is hard,
I struggle to complete one,
It makes me happy.
I put rhyme and rhythm in it,
Makes poem more beautiful.

4.
I was fast with guns,
People called me magic hands,
Guns were protection.
Thugs were afraid of my guns,
And ran away when I came.

5.
Gun was law in West,
The fast gunmen ruled the land,
They enforced the law,
They could draw, shoot and kill fast,
This made them deadly and feared.

6.
Robots had no soul,
AI gave them true wisdom,
They mimicked humans,
Made many jobs obsolete,
Created lot of new jobs.

7.
Clear sky gives me joy,
Allows the sun to come out,
Sun gives light and warmth,
It helps plants to cook their food,
Produces vitamin D.

8.
I shattered my spine,
Was paralyzed below chest,
Couldn’t fell anything,
I was put in a wheelchair,
Thirty years is a long time.

9.
I love Biryani,
Mix of rice, meat and spices,
Delicious to eat,
Is healthy and complete meal,
With date pickle and salad.

10.
Love hardcover books,
Like tactile feel while reading,
Shelves overflowing,
Bought a Kindle Paperwhite,
Now I read from its bright screen.
