Embrace of Sea and Shore

From the shore, the sea looks endless.
From the sea, the shore and land
extend far beyond the horizon.
Both views are breathtaking.

The sea and shore embrace like new lovers,
never stopping, never taking a break.
Sometimes the sea kisses the shore lightly.
Sometimes it is a deep, passionate kiss.

The sun rises in the east from behind the mountains.
It warms both the land and the sea.
The sea cradles the warmth longer.
The sun takes a bath in the sea, and night arrives.

The sea hides lost treasures—
the value of things in its belly beyond estimate.
Treasure hunters in fancy ships,
with high-tech gear, probe the seabed.

Sometimes they luck out and find treasure.
Sometimes they return empty-handed.
If it’s your lucky day, you might strike gold.
Otherwise, shift your spot and search on.

Fishermen cast their nets, and if the sea’s in a good mood,
the nets brim with fish, and they profit.
Sometimes they return empty-handed too.
The sea is moody; it favors those who don’t quit.
