Sonnet 4 – Beautiful Life

I claimed a beautiful and happy fate,
With learning’s thrill and joys that made me swoon,
A challenging job with generous pay rate,
In love’s embrace, I danced beneath the moon.

I loved her deeply; she returned the fire,
Her beauty glowed from some eternal core.
No want divided us, no dark desire—
Her presence fed my heart forevermore.

One day a speeding car crushed into my bike,
My spine snapped sharp in lightning’s cruel strike;
Paralyzed, I watched her swiftly hike
Away, abandoning our shared delight.

Now bound to this wheeled chair, I face the glare,
Yet life stays fierce—despair shall not ensnare.
