I am in pain,
Intense and severe,
It keeps me awake,
Despite being dead tired.
I stopped painkillers long ago,
They didn’t provide any respite,
They only dulled the pain for a while,
And it returned with a vengeance.
I tried meditation,
But there was no effect,
I couldn’t meditate,
When my body was on fire.
I endured many therapies,
Each offering relief,
But none worked,
Some made matters worse.
I still am in pain,
Intense and acute as ever,
But I am at peace with my pain now,
I know that my pain is my destiny,
And I can’t avoid it.
[Inspired by Amitabh Bachan’s dialog in the movie Kaala Patthar.]

Alexis,
Words sometimes feel very empty. I know some miracles are impossible. But I wish you all the best.
Jane: Yes hugs are a bonus 🙂 and thanks for the BBH.
Paresh: I completely agree with you buddy 🙂
TME: It gets better, then it is bad, it gets worse, and then again it is better; but it is always there; but unless it is really worse, I am used to it. I wrote this on a day when it was really bad.
Kajan: Thank you Kajan.
Hello Alexis,
Yesterday I came across an old copy of RD (Nov ’07, to be precise), and I was completely captured by the article featuring your story. I have been reading your blog since morning.I am touched, I am overwhelmed; and all I can say is, please add me to your list of friends.

After you said that it was inspired by Bachhan`s dialogue in Kaala Pathar, I watched the whole movie once again. Just like your poem, that dialogue was touching. 🙂
